The pre-lenten carnival season is coming to a finale. In the US, the best known parades are in New Orleans, to-morrow; Mardi Gras is Fat Tuesday, laissez les bon temps rouler, mon amis! In the large Rhineland cities of Germany: Köln(Cologne), Düsseldorf, Mainz, Stuttgart, usw., the big festivities are on Rosenmontag. Clowns, musicians and floats with papier mâché characters, sometimes political caricatures parade. It is a time to be foolish, and the truth and emotion can come out without penalty. Children can feast on candy, and enjoy a daytime hallowe'en on this feast of fools.
